Re: Have you ever had a once in a lifetime experience?

I’m not an adventurous person. Dh had to practically drag me onto our flight to Italy, the two times we went to Hawaii, when we flew out west to see the Grand Canyon. I could go on but you get the idea. Of course I’m always thrilled to see the sights once I’m on the ground, just don’t like flying.

Maybe when we finally are able to go to Ireland to see the places our ancestors came from, I might call that trip my Once in a Lifetime experience. Still, gotta fly to get there. Ugh. 😆

Re: Have you ever had a once in a lifetime experience?

When I was young, I decided I would love to work and travel in different places in the world.  After research, I figured the best opportunity was a certain job in the Federal govnment in DC.

After I received a job offer, I packed my bags and moved to a city where I did not know one person, where I would live, or how to find my way around.

My life changed at that time in so many ways for the better.   When looking back, I cannot believe I did it.

It truly was a "once in a lifetime" moment.

Re: Have you ever had a once in a lifetime experience?

Years ago, sent a $35.00 money order to New York City  and received tickets for front row seats at Carnegie Hall, and row 11, center, Avery Fisher Hall.

Newport Jazz Festival

    Carnegie: McCoy Tyner, RIP

Avery Fisher: Afro Cuban Jazz Lineup, WOW.

Visited Bronx Zoo

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Had best pizza in my life!

Saw hookers Lol

I think I lucked out when they got the money and tried to figure out where in the world does this girl live ha. They probably laughed and said: "Let's give her a New York City experience she will never forget."

And I never will~

@Porcelain You reminded me--

got high on weed and went down a river in the middle of the night without a paddle.  Those hazy, dazy college years.

I think I’d have to say a private audience with Pope John Paul.

Things that stick in my mind - First Gondola ride, thought I had Arrived!

Hot-air Balloon flight over the mountains of Cappadocia,

Combined concert by the Ukraine & Russian Navy Choruses in Sevastopol, May 1st, before Russia returned to Ukraine. Hiking the Cliffs of Moher at dawn, Climbing all the way down into the Salt Mines of Poland (and back up), Auchwitz,Terezin, patting a Lipizzan,  standing at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Visiting the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque,Troy, and the site of the Battle of Gallipoli, Running the track at Olympus with friends, Delphi, Ephesus (the home of Mary), climbing the hill of Acropolis

Most moving - Seeing the Pieta for the first time & second & third - always takes my breath away.  Spending 6 weeks in New Orleans doing Animal Rescue post Katrina.

Time spent at Yad Vashem, seeing the city of Jerusalem from the top of the Mount of Olives at dawn, touching the Western Wall.

Entering the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and touching the silver star which marks the site of the cradle.

Back in the 1980's I was dating a guy who was working sound at the first MTV awards. I got to meet Eric Clapton and he kissed my hand. I thought I was going to die!!!
