Yes, @Mominohio, I've thought of those things and a few others. Just this morning, 2 different news channels were talking about a newer virus found in Asia that medical experts are watching. And scientists have never found a vaccine for HIV, so it continues. And all the people who refuse to get vaccines - will they and their children continue to spread the virus? And.... I really have to stop thinking about all of it.

Instead of a vaccine to prevent Covid-19, maybe they will find a cure.

As a teacher, I've been thinking about how different it will be on the job. Around here it seems we're all going back to regular schedules in the fall with one exception--most of the districts are setting up K5-12 "virtual schools" for those students whose parents don't feel comfortable sending their kids to school. It's going to be a school of choice--you either go to school or stay home and have online classes. No mention so far as to which teachers get to do the online teaching, but it sounds like they will have to go to a school building and teach in an empty classroom in front of cameras. The rest of us will go to school and teach face-to-face. I've seen some social media posts that called out the irony in our situation:

1. School board members have met through Zoom to say we're going back to regular schedule. They don't think it's safe enough for them to have face-to-face board meetings, yet they determined we can all go back in a few weeks. Some of these school boards had public virtual meetings posted on their websites while others just issued press releases without the public getting a chance to see who said what.

2. Seems the higher ups are discouraging masks in the classrooms. These are the same people seen on camera wearing masks.

The classroom will be a different experience whether we have a vaccine or not. I would not mind continuing like I did last spring. I felt safe here at home and I made sure the lessons were engaging. This new model where a select group of teachers will be teaching online while the rest of us are doing face-to-face instruction seems a little unfair.

I thought about it just the other day. I anticipate no trick or treaters this Halloween and wonder about Thanksgiving dinners with family. Christmas may have to celebrated virtually.

I don't believe this will be ending anytime soon. If you haven't considered what it could be like you are living in denial.

Sorry I can't respond as directed, but the discussion is pointless... Yet another virus thread with pretty much the same somewhat predictable responses from more or less the same somewhat predictable folks, who have been beating up this topic for the past four months... And you know what, at the end of the day nothing being said here matters... Not a bit... What's going to happen is going to happen and pretty clearly if any of us had any control over it, things would be different... All the 'what ifs' in the world are not helpful or remotely worthwhile...

Life has changed as we know it. I do worry about my family of course, but I am trying not to stress over it too much. I too believe that we have the best scientists and medical teams on the planet and I have great confidence in them. I am a cancer survivor so I don't get stressed very easily anymore. I just do the best I can do to be cautious when out and helping my adult kids out as well. Thankfully we are retired so we are able to stay home mostly. We are avid travelers though and miss that very much but am happy for all we have gotten to see in the world, as we may not travel again. Who knows?

Works both ways. Too many virus threads, too many of the same old same old, too many of the complainers about the virus threads repeatedly saying the same thing on nearly every virus thread.

If you don't want to discuss the virus simply stop responding to posts about the virus. Problem solved.

The virus is not going away and neither are the posts/threads about it.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

Not exactly sure who falls into your "it's all about me category", but I am thinking it is not the same as mine.

Mine would be the ones walking/standing, shoulder to shoulder/not only talking, but shouting(i can actually see the droplets)/some even holding hands.

They supposedly "are thinking about others" but their thought processes and actions are much different than mine.

I think I know those you are referencing in your "group", and you mine. For mine there are too many, and they are ignorant when it comes to historical facts. Your "group" are those not believing everything that so-called experts, are putting out, much of which is more speculative, than factual.

That's my take,

My logic is why worry about somthing before it needs to be worried about. When it's time to worry then I will but why waste extra time worrying over something that may not happen.
