When you have an entity that is mining information for a foreign unfriendly government I don't believe it matters if you access them through their website or their app, or whether you use a phone, tablet or computer.
My understanding is that they not only attach to your information but also those with whom you have as contacts.
It's also my belief that these entities know how to subtly attack using traits in our culture, such a love of materialistic things.

No. My daughter wanted to shop TEMU because a friend introduced it to her. I asked my husband to check out the website and stuff. He said absolutely not.

I totally agree with this:

I think it was the last Super Bowl when I first heard of Temu.
The purchase I made 2 days ago was my first and most likely my last. Used a credit card for better protection if something goes wrong. Shopped from my computer so they were no fingerprints. Computer camera has a cover over it. If I don't shop with them again, it will be because of the quality of the clothing. I'm fairly cautious about my digital footprint but it's likely futile. I use ad blockers and stay away from the dark web. Online shopping has opened up an entire new world where you live in Rural America

What well- known clothing store would you compare temu's clothes to in quality? Thanks

QVC, HSN, Shophq, Walmart. The first thing I got was a gift from my daughter. An ivory knit sweater. Cowl neck. Substantial for winter. I loved everything about it. She paid $14. It seemed very familiar but I didn't know why until I took out all my winter clothing. I owned that exact same sweater in pink. I bought it in 2022 from Shophq and I paid $45 for it.

Thank you. I've never bought clothing from any of those places but I didn't realize QVC and WM were the same or similar in quality ![]()

@monicakm No I have not and no I would not. A little research turns up: while Temu is a legitimate company and a functioning e-commerce site, it lacks accreditation from the BBB which is the standard for major retailers. Many of the tech items being sold on the site "look" like those manufactured by major companies like Dell aor HP but they are not authentic. The BBB is warning about all kinds of issues with the website, from complaints about product quality to shipping delays and items bought and never received. They report over 1,000 complaints about Temu and it's on the BBB's alert radar. One of the biggest issues is privacy concerns.
Temu and Shein are rivals but they sometimes get lumped together. Both platforms offer a vast range of products but Shein's main attraction is women's fashion while Temu offers more of a variety of products.
In the end people say the companies are unethical due to concerns about their environmental impact, labor practices and alleged design theft. The brands heavy use of harmful materials, rapid production and lack of transparency have raised ethical issues. And yes Walmart, Amazon, Target etc may not be much better but the fact that you are buying directly from China, I just can't do it. As long as you are aware of the companies sketchy policies and are good with them and you're happy with the products then go for it. There's no right or wrong only a happy consumer.

Very well stated. I appreciate your insight. I would never buy Electronics from them. I purchased two shirts and it will most likely be my last. I have resisted the temptation of their low prices for as long as I could. I needed to see for myself what the quality of their clothing was. I purchased using my computer... if that helps at all.

I think I can making shopping choices that I feel more comfortable with than shopping with Temu or Shein.
