Re: Have you bought anything from Temu?

I have but I didn’t use my regular credit card for fear of my info being compromised. I used one that I almost never use so it would be easier to spot any unauthorized charges. I also prefer to use a credit card vs a debit card for more protection.

Temu has at least one class action lawsuit against them right now. This info was published in November, and there is no way I would purchase anything from them.  It's just asking for trouble in my opinion:

I've always heard to never use a debit card online.

@monicakm  - I haven't, but I have a good friend that loves them.  She's been happy with all her purchases.

Yes.  Temu and Shein.  It started with my daughter about a year ago.  She had the cutest outfits and things for the house and she told me about TEMU and the low prices.  I was leary until she bought me a sweater.  I was impressed with quality and fit and the price.  I bought many things since and I have only been disappointed by one top.  I don't use a credit card.  I have one specific debit card that is not connected to my bank that use for online shopping.  My friend's daughter is getting married next fall.  She already bought her wedding gown and reception gown from TEMU.  She said both dresses are unbelievably gorgeous and just need some minor alterations.

How is your debit card not connected to a bank account? Where is the money coming from to pay Temu if not one of your bank accounts?

It's a prepay Visa debit card that I have had for years.  I load cash on it at Walmart.  Prepay debit cards have been around for 25 years at least.  Can't be the first time you have heard of them.  I love the safety factor and it helps with my shopping budget.  I'm using my Visa debit card but I'm a actually paying cash.  I have a separate prepay debit card that we use just for travel expenses.

I have not but everyone I know seems to shop on Temu.

I just wonder how many of the stories about Temu are from competitors.

Temu is taking what Amazon did & going even further.

We do put our information out so many places without even thinking about it.

I don't know how this could be any different.

I haven't bought anything on Temu, so don't know the quality of their items. Temu was advertised during the NFL games Sunday. That's the first time I've seen them on TV.

The rants remind me of what people said about Amazon when they first came on the scene and also what was said about Walmart.  It's because the industry is losing customers by the millions to these apps and they are desperately trying to staunch the flow.  True.  They are owned by companies in China but so are many companies.  As a consumer and manager of my own money, all I care about is getting value for my dollar and I'm getting that with Temu and Shein.  I guarantee you I will be buying less from QVC and HSN and more from TEMU and Shein.  Interestingly, delivery is  just 9 or 10 days.
