All summer I've been putting peanuts in the driveway for a chipmunk (I think there are two, but one is very skittish).  Any way, as the weeks went by I started moving the little pile of peanuts closer to my fron steps, then up on the steps, and then the porch.  Today he, Buddy as a names him, came right up next to me and put his little feet on my leg.  I have him eating out of my hand too.  He's so cute.

So cute.

My father does this with squirrels.  He gives them peanuts, too.

@rms1954

You can have mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They eat the asphalt and dig holes to get into the garage.

They do more damage that you can imagine.

Oh my gosh @rms1954 !

I a so envious becaue I have a chipmonk who I call my friend-but he also is very skittish and I don't think he thinks I am his friend. When I see him I always say-"HI! You are so cute and handsome! I love you!"

and he probably hopes I will stop noticing him and skitters away.

But one day I was sitting in my chair and looked down and he was right at the side of my chair looking up at me just staring. I was thrilled but I think he may not have expected me to be there.

Anyway I am glad for you that you have made a chipmonk friend. It is a thrill isn't it to have a wild animal friend.

I worry if I don't see him for a couple days.  He fills his little cheeks so full of the nuts and off he goes to stockpile them.  Then he returns for more Smiley Happy

I live trap the chipmunks around my house. , they are very destructive , chew holes in everything , garden hoses , cedar deck , wires , l even had one get into my basement through the dryer vent , what a mess ! I bring them to a park and let them go . They are territorial so if you catch a couple , there won't be any for a while .

I would have kept moving the peanuts further and further away from the house.
