Have You Ever Done This With Milk?

My parents buy a gallon of 1% which is purple with the brand name that they buy. The skim milk is blue which is what I wanted so yesterday I grabbed a half gallon of the store brand in blue not even thinking about it. I opened it up this morning and something caught my eye when I was pouring the milk into my cereal. The milk I bought isn't skim milk its 1% as well. So now we have a gallon and half of 1% milk in the fridge. I really wanted the skim milk. Its a good thing my niece is staying with us for 3 days she loves milk hopefully we will go through it all. I hate that they use different colors for different percent's. I didn't even think about it.

In my area, the 1% is in a blue cap. It's confusing! Smile

I haven't bought milk with a cap in a long time. I buy almond milk in the paper carton.

Is there much of a difference between 1% and skim?

1% has 2.5 grams of fat where skim has none.

I thought 1% WAS skim milk... The 0% is nonfat, right? I should add that I am not a milk drinker, so please excuse my ignorance...

At my grocery store, the skim milk has a purple label, or at least it used to. I quit drinking cow's milk a couple of years ago & switched to almond & rice milk. No color-coding there; I have to read the label to choose what I want{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

In my area there is no consistency with colors.

Each supermarket has their own color coding for the fat content. One uses pink for 2%, one uses blue and another uses green.

The only one that is the same throughout is whole milk with a red label and cap.
