Re: Have You Caught the Fever?

Now if only the game could be tied to physical fitness in some way.  Haven't to walk so many steps to the location, for instance, having to give chase for so many seconds...

You have sacrificed nothing and no one.

Re: Have You Caught the Fever?

I have never in my entire life played any type of video or computer game.  And I never will.

Apparently, the new "in" game to play is Pokemon Go.

I haven't played it, but from what I understand, and maybe someone who has played it can explain it better than I can, but you hold your smart phone out in front of you, and you're supposed to "catch" all of these Pokemon characters, as you're walking around.

Oh, great.

Like we don't have enough distractions as it is, now.

Someone is going to walk in front of a bus, or a car trying to catch these darn Pokemons.

Sounds like a complete waste of time.

Re: Have You Caught the Fever?

I learned about this firsthand last evening as I noticed two teenage boys on bikes taking pictures of our front yard and driveway. Creeped me out, I opened the front door to ask what they were doing and they quickly fled. Thinking this was weird, I posted a note to our neighborhood NextDoor site only to be told that they were likely playing Pokemon Go. It's a digital scavenger hunt. Ok, neat idea but kinda creepy to have people trolling through your neighborhood randomly taking pictures based on a GPS-based game.

But folks are lauding it for the fact that it's getting kids off the couch and outside to walk or bike.

One of my teen sons was telling me about this last night. He pulled up some of the charges people have faced due to it:

trespassing

breaking and entering

assault

reckless driving

reckless endangerment'

theft.

Yeah, that's a REALLY great game. Sheesh.

I don't know what that means, "pulled some..."

The game players don't enter a property or even go onto it, they merely take a photo from the outside, it's all recorded and verified by GPS monitoring.

Re: Have You Caught the Fever?

@Noel7   Oops, left out a word.

He pulled UP some charges people have faced....

Different articles as buddies of his wanted to play and the parents said no based on some of the things IDIOTS have been doing to get these photos. Yes, PHOTOS but there will always be those who take it too far.

Oh, and of course, they have to VLOG while doing it causing more problems.

Play, don't play... I don't care. Just giving my opinion as I was made aware of it by my teenagers.
