As a small plumbing contractor, we have had bad experiences using this type of company. We have an excellent reputation in our area but have been upaid by these companies. I don't know how Home Advisor is but we have learned over the years to avoid doing business with any of them. Call your local township for a list of registered contractors or, as recommended by someone previously, check online on your local neighborhood site -- like NextDoor. We have gotten a lot of referrals that way.

Tried each once.....filled out their application form (work to be done - address - etc.) and never received any thing back except..........(the funny part).....e-mails for weeks asking how my porch job turned out, was I satisfied, rate the worker.
WHAT?
ITA. I've never had a good experienc with any of their businesses.

You got lucky.
