Has anybody been watching the Greenville Zoo giraffe cam?

I have ever since I read about it here (of course!).

Anyway yesterday they had Kellan, the young brother of the new little one sleeping outside at night! His pen was opened up to Autumn and the baby. I wondered what was going on.

I know that he is supposed to be transferred eventually.

When he was outside with Autumn and the little one, Autumn let him know in no uncertain terms to keep away. (she is his mom).He could be outside with Miles his dad with no problem. He just seemed curious about the little one but Autumn of course was very cautious and protective. I never see her kiss or nuzzle Kellan though.

I emailed them also about Kellan licking the bars over and over in his pen but they never answered.

He is so sweet and really only a little guy himself under one year old.

The one really great thing to watch was the baby finally meeting Miles the dad after not budging from her pen even though Autumn tried over and over to encourage her to get outside.

When she finally met Miles, she stuck to his side and he was such a loving dad, giving her kisses and hugs every so often and she was hugging him back.

I can't find the live chat part anymore. Maybe they have taken it down. Sometimes the caretakers would come on and answer questions. It seems there is no way to find out about what is going on. Maybe they just don't have enough time for this, which I can understand.

If anyone knows anything about Kellan and what they are planning or how he is doing, I'd love to know. I can't find any recent information about him.

Reading this you may think , jeez am I obsessed? Probably.

Once you start watching,it can happen. They are fascinating and have different personalities.

And sometimes just very lovely and a tranquil thing to watch.

#giraffesat5:30standardtimelol!

Sounds like a kiddy show.  However, nope.  I'd probably be asleep in two seconds.   LOL!!!  Anyway, enjoy!

@on the bay,  Kellan is almost two years old.  As a FYI a giraffe pregnancy lasts about 14-15 months.

The eyes through which you see others may be the same as how they see you.

@77yangya -she enjoys watching the giraffes.  Was your belittling response really necessary?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Though I haven't  watched the giraffe videos, I know what you mean about being obsessed.  I became that way watching giant pandas and love them!  A baby panda bear was born in Aug. last year at Nat'l Zoo in DC and I can't get enough of him. So cute!

[ Edited ]

I look in every few few days, but I haven't found much information on them either.

Like you, not what I'd call obsessed, just interested in bald eagles.  Check in on 5 nests everyday.

Never thought eagles would be interesting, but they are.  Such good parents.

I know what you mean, I became attached to one of the babies, Romy, so full of personality.  What a character.  Very sad when he left home for good.

I also watch a eagle nest each day, the one from Florida with Harriet and M15. Plus I check in on several elephant rescues on facebook.

@gidgetgh -

There you are! You are the one who originally got me interested in April

watching! For hours we watched and waited.

And it's okay, I thought @77yangya's reply was funny.

I was wondering if you were watching Autumn.

But today Miles and Kellan are out in the paddock. Miles seems very interested in the people. He is so big but so sweet and gentle.

And they are cleaning Autumn's pen.

Ok, that's the giraffe update!🥰
