No spring here.  I went to the dentist this morning.I live about 30 miles  from his office.  When I got there, the snow was just starting...just a few flakes.

I left after a cleaning and exam and there was three inches of snow on the ground.  I had to walk through it to get to my car.  My feet were wet, my hair was ruined and I was wet clear through by the time I got my car cleaned off and hit the highway.

i passed a one car accident and a seven car pile up one the other side of the Median.  I drove 35-40 mph in a 65 mph zone , but made it home okay.  At my house, everything was dry...no snow.

Fast forward to an hour later....we now have light snow flakes.  Expecting at least six inches.

Happy spring everyone...

@OKPrincess Well....I don't think it's arriving tomorrow as I heard on the weather channel it's been stalled in Denver (was 70 there the other day).

Here in Northern Va we're expecting snow .....yepper...yet another "Noreaster" so they say.  Depending on which channel 1 to 3 inches is the most popular guess.

Well as most of you hard working people know in other states here in the Va/DC/Md area if the winds blow or we get one snow flake the entire government shuts down.  Yes!  That's your tax money people.

Myself and all of my friends used to work for the government (DC/Pentagon/Maryland) and way back we never got off due to weather.  These days they get off if the wind is blowing hard.

Not blaming the workers.  Don't know who's to blame just saying to many of you in other parts, try telling your bosses you won't be in because I might be expecting 1 to 3 inches ....just maybe...in my back yard...

We all know to stay away from the stores and roads because they're so crowded with school kids and adults shopping we can't get anywhere.  Think I'm exaggerating....not at all.

Not true.  Nowhere near it.

PS - that "wind blowing day off" you mention - it was actually up to 80mph winds/power out for a week in some places - some of us live here too.

You are correct @Mj12, my daughter was given the day off from her job in DC. she told me that the winds were really bad. She had to clear off her balcony so that she wouldn't lose anything or hurt anyone.

Southern WV is rainy and wet, and getting ready for 6” of snow tonight.   Let’s get this last blast of winter over, and move on to lighter, brighter days.

Yesterday for a little bit.  Today, its snowing in SW PA.  I had an appointment to take my car for inspection and oil change, but I cancelled it as it is 25 miles away and I don't do snow (driving).  Forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow is not good, but we've been pretty much spared the past few months.

Anyway back to Spring....I told my husband I smell the beginning of Spring coming.  Of course he looked at me like I had two heads.  But I swear I notice little things like this.

@Kroppiewrote:

I agree with you, having had to sit on the subway and in traffic for hours when DC has a snowstorm.  I got home after midnight too many times, getting to the point where I just stayed home when a snowstorm was forecast.

It is not true that the govt shuts down when there is a flake, especially now that so many people have flexiplace agreements in place.   If you have the ability to work from home on an episodic basis,  you are required to work even if the govt does shutdown.  So I would be very cautious making such cruel remarks about govt workers during a snowstorm. The OPs comments are not funny, they are incorrect and mean spirited.

The problem is that DC metro area does NOT take snow seriously.   They don't plow, making driving horrendous.    After living there for 35 years, I still don't understand their mentality about plowing.    Meaning they don't and if they do, the way they plow is laughable.  But thanks for sticking up for govt workers, from one who knows the truth.

@Kroppie  Thanks for this!  As we are not New York or Maine, the investment in snow equipment not so much.  The state and district do a decent job with their equipment and the private contractors work very hard.  It's just not supposed to snow that much here.  It has become or maybe has always been the thing to be so very critical of government workers.  Presently, I don't work for the government, in private industry, but when OPM closes our office is closed as well.  Every time I say thank goodness.  I, too, take leave rather than risk sitting in the car for hours to get to my office and the same for the return trip home.  My lunch hour is over - must go.  Have fun in the snow everybody!

@Annabellethecat66

It peaks out now and again here in the Pacific Northwest, but this morning woke to 32 degree temps and the house was so cold, snow possible on Saturday.

My grape hyacinth "river" ambling through our front yard looks great, along with the daffodils. All of my tulips were lost a year ago January, in our big snow/ice storms.   Not putting any bulbs in yet, until freezing temps fly the coop.

Really feel for all you folks in the east and midwest.  Hope things really start to warm up for you soon.
