Why not read some of Francis' latest opinions on income re-distribution?

Francis??? Are you personal friends with His Holiness? I don't think it is considered appropriate to call the Catholic Pope by his first name. He is not your pal.

It's perfectly OK.

I am not only Catholic, I have a BA in Religious Studies from a Jesuit school.

He actually introduces himself by his given name when speaking on the phone with people.

Ummm ....so you have spoken with him on the phone?

And seeing Americans burn the American flag sickens me as well. There are no words to describe how I feel about that. But it doesn't change the fact that under the law, they have to right to do it.

It is not about being sickened. It is about realizing that there are others that will believe differently than you and while we might not like it, the US Constitution provides individuals with those rights.

And that indeed is the point. We don't have to LIKE it.

I don't think anyone on this thread has said they "liked" the idea of the black mass. So it is indeed the point that while people may not like the idea or agree with it, they understand in the US individuals are provided with certain rights, whether they like it or not.

Says you. I cannot imagine someone walking up to the Pope and saying "Hey Frank, how's it goin'?

He calls people and identifies himself by his given name.

Plus just read anything written by Catholic scholars. Popes are often called by their given name only....like calling a Mr. Smith - "Smith."

If you had any real knowledge of Catholicism, you would know that it is not disrespectful to call him "Francis."

Are you Roman Catholic?

Rush attacked Christianity because of that. It's all over the news, name-calling the Pope.

I listened to a few minutes today as I was in the car. I didn't hear him name call the Pope. But I admit it was only a few minutes. He was discussing the issue.

He called the Pope three names that I am aware of. I think they were Communist, Marxist and Socialist.

Yes I am. Why else would I get a degree in Religious Studies from a Jesuit college?

And my dear Pitdakota (and I mean Dear sincerely) nobody has said, that I recall, that they should be run out of town at gunpoint. What I have seen is disgust with the situation and the fact of what this "group" is doing.

I personally have said that I am sure if it was another religion being mocked the opinions would be quite different.

ETA: Just because someone has the "right" to do something doesn't mean it is the right thing to do.

No he didn't. He said it was a Marxist philosophy. He did not say he was a Marxist.
