I find it interesting that the same ones outraged by Westboro Baptist's beliefs seem to be so tolerant of Satanists' beliefs.......and their mockery of the Catholic church.

I don't like that church but they have the right to worship as they please.

I'm outraged by Westboro but they still have the right to believe what they believe.

Okay, this may be apples and oranges but, wasn't everybody here (including myself) outraged over the basketball owner who was taped saying racist things and everyone thought he should lose his team and all sorts of other sanctions?

How is this different?

Does Satanism profess racism or bigotry toward others?

Do they target certain groups? Are their beliefs based on hatred or aggression?

How are they different from other faiths, other than the "higher power" they worship?

I don't know, that's why I'm asking.

(my edit)

No, they are equal opportunity haters.

Why should the Catholic Church be so worried about being mocked?

I am actually very surprised at some of the responses on here and am leaving this thread quickly.

It really isn't, scottie. If we all believe in free speech, no matter how distasteful, then nothing whatsoever should happen to Sterling.

Harvard was for many years a Christian college. Those are its roots. "With some 17,000 Puritans migrating to New England by 1636, Harvard was founded in anticipation of the need for training clergy for the new commonwealth, a "church in the wilderness." from wiki

So this is interesting as it is in stark contrast to tradition, and embodies the contradictions found in the "progress" of social awakening in the permissive climate of a liberal arts education.

I think the Catholic church having an alternate service at the same time, different location is a great way to deal with their feelings about it.
