In general:  Sometimes there isn't much a spouse can do re: driving, etc.  Sometimes they just 'sneak out' and do whatever they want to do.  And I'm guessing that 'hiding the keys' can result in plenty of turmoil in the household, similar to 'grounding' teens.  Please note: In general, and slightly off topic.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

In general, regarding driving:  Some won't stop driving until they end up in a few minor (or worse) accidents here and there.  That's when the insurance premiums escalate, the cost of repairs are very burdensome;  and then finally the driver ends up figuring out that maybe he/she shouldn't be driving after all.
