We still have a week left until Trick or Treat, but I just can't make up my mind what to give out?

I thought candy bars but how many moms let their kids eat them?

I thought about money but is that really a Halloween treat?

I saw Cheez it crackers in packages, Oreo's in packages

I know I don't want one of those mega bags of assorted candy.

What are you giving out?

I haven't decided yet either but I have more stickers than I'll ever use and kids usually love those so might include some of them in the yet-to-be-determined mix.

Haven’t been to Target lately but they usually have bags of Halloween themed trinkets: googly eyes, erasers etc.

Nothing.  I live in a typical suburban neighborhood but haven't had a tick or treater in the past 20 years.  There aren't any young kids as far as I know on my street, just a teenager or two.  I just wonder if the local churches have Halloween activities for the kids.  Nobody is ever outside or in the street at night.

A letter signed by parents in my neighborhood states that their children will not be seeking treats at residents' homes this year.  A fall gathering will be held at a neighbor's home next week.  All residents and their children are invited to attend.  Games and sweet treats will be a part of the festivities.  A copy of this letter was left at my front door yesterday.  So no 'treats' given out at my house this year.

i'm giving out kit kat bars....if moms are letting their kids go trick or treating....why wouldn't they let their kids eat candy?!  what do they think most people hand out at halloween.....

Nothing. Especially after finding out that 1000-1800 pieces of candy are usually given out. 

My community is gaga over Halloween. The decorations are over the top; amazing. We have a FB sub-page dedicated to JUST Halloween decor, where to go to see the haunted houses (we have many in our community and WOW, they look fantastic). Gated communities choose a "theme" and everyone who lives there follows the it (you stand out if you don't). Last year, one of them chose "cops and robbers" and starting from the first house to the last, you saw the antics of skeletons stealing stuff and then being caught by the cops and then a huge party for the kid skeletons while the robbers sat in a jail. The lights, the attention to detail....WOW. This is the kind of stuff that is the NORM where we live.

For this reason, people arrive in our community in vans, park and then hit up the houses for candy. They're not neighbors, they're not kids your kids go to school with; they're simply out to get candy. And so, you need a LOT of it. Do the math regarding how much candy is in a large bag, how much it costs and needing that much....and no, it's not 1 piece per child, but usually 3 (that's just how it's done).

Yep, we're keeping the lights off. 

If we were back in MD: It would be the same as always....Kit Kats, Reeses PB pumpkins, M&M's, Charms Blow pops and organic fruit gummies (for the little ones and for those who are gluten free/nut free treaters). Happy Halloween, everyone!

We usually give out small sized candy bars.  I love to sit on the porch with the dog and see all the cute custumes.  This year DH and I just got over Covid so there will be no treat or treat at our house this year.

We usually get between 200 and 250 kids too.  We live in a neighborhood and there have been no kids living on our block for several years now, but those who live out in the county come into town to trick or treat and our neighborhood is a safe one with many who do pass out treats.

Too bad that this year two new families have moved into our block with kids and we will not be "halloweeing" They have both decorated their houses for Halloween.  I hate that we will not be passing treat this year.

We have it ready just in case, but some years no trick-or-treaters show up.  Usually buy Reeses.
