As a mark of solemn respect for the victims of the act of violence
perpetrated in Thousand Oaks, California on November 7th,
a President's Proclamation has been made to immediately lower
all American Flags to Half-Staff until sunset, 11/10 (Saturday).

Thank you. That's a good idea. That, and thoughts and prayers.

I have been watching the procession. So proud of my city.

I once visited your city when I was living in California. We have friends that live there. Very impressed with it. I thought it was such a nice place to live.

It's good that our policy of thoughts and prayers is saving so many lives.
May God rest the souls of the innocents.

Glad to see this. When out this morning, every flag we saw was at half-staff and we thought the shooting in Ca. might be the reason but didn't know for sure until now.

Yes, it is only right and honorable to honor the victims and the families of this mass shooting by the official half-mast flag.
However, this rings very hollow to me in the wake of what is happening in our country. Same thing with “thoughts and prayers....”.
I am one of those who is awaiting some common sense start of solutions on a national level. As a person living in Connecticut, December 14th is a very tough day. This year marks the 6th year since Sandy Hook. Our state made some common sense changes, without infringing on Second Amendment rights. Through the grace of God, we have not had such an incident again. Like so many others here, we will never forget the twenty 6 and 7 year olds who died, along with the six brave women who died actively trying to protect them. Every time I hear of this type of event, I still cry. For the victims. For their families and friends. For our country.
My thoughts and feelings, and I stand by them.

It seems to me we should just leave the flags at half staff...they are there so often. Sad.
