Half-Staff Flags: Until 4/21 (Sat)

[ Edited ]

As a mark of respect for the memory of former First Lady Barbara Bush,

a President’s Proclamation has been ordered for the flag

of the United States shall be flown at halfstaff until sunset,

May she RIP. Would be meaningful if this was also done when we lose military in action.

Barbara Bush was a lovely down-to-earth first lady. I loved her "fake pearls."

Maybe it depends where you live, but when we lose military in Wisconsin, our flags are flown at half staff.

So many tributes have been flowing in since the news broke about Mrs. Bush.  I like the anecdotes that reveal her essential "crisp-ness", for lack of a better word!

Admiral Stavridis encountered her in the course of his duties at the White House.  He said, she was gracious without being cloying.  "She was so straightforward", he enthused.  He said she was like fresh sea air blowing over you, and he loved talking to her on the brief occasions that he did.

Spoken like a true Navy man!
