Half-Staff Flags: 9/11 (Mon)

[ Edited ]

To honor & remember the victims of September 11, 2001,
a President's Proclmation has been issued to lower all

American flags to Half-Staff from sunrise to sunset 9/11 (Mon).

Additionally, a moment of silence is observed to correspond
with the attacks, beginning at 8:46 AM (EDT),
the time the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11,
struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center
on September 11, 2001.

@sidsmom  Thank you.  I have a feeling the weather is going to take top priority on the news but we certainly can remember in our own ways.

No matter how much time goes by just reading or hearing "Lets Roll" gives me chills, sadness, and such pride in my fellow man.  May 9/11 always be in our hearts and minds.

Becky you are so correct no matter what I am doing I can remember exactly what I was doing when the news came on the TV. Also remember who I called on the phone first to make sure they turned on their TV. Definatly remember I never went to bed  that night watched the TV constantly.

Re: Half-Staff Flags: 9/11 (Mon)

I will never forget that tragic day.  I worked at a school across the river from Manhatten and could see the horror as it happened.  I was numb and devastated , we all were.  I cried daily every time I saw people on the news who had lost someone or were looking for loved ones.  It was beyond sadness and such an assault on our country..

I remember going to the Waldorf Astoria, a famous hotel at Manhattan, weeks after.  As I sat in the lobby waiting for a friend, I could hear the sorrowful tone of bagpipes at St.Patrick's Church as another victim's funeral was held.  The tears started again.

We must never forget and we must make it a part of every student's history lesson.

Driving this morning & surprised by the number of businesses

who did not have their flags lowered.  Little do they know that flag

is a very, very large 'business card' advertising their

attention to detail.

Have you seen any not observing the annual official lowering?
