I read in 3 different publications to cancel hair appointments, manicure/pedicure appointments, and massages. Think about it, why not do your part in not passing this virus around. What if you have it, but do not show the symptoms and pass the virus on? How can this be stopped?

My hairdresser of over 30 years told me his shop may have to close for a couple of weeks. He lives about 15 minutes from me & has a room in his house where he does hair when he's not in his shop. He's been doing mine & DH hair from home for about 8 years.
He told me that even if he has to close his shop, as long as we are able to get to eachother he will keep doing our hair.He is only extending this offer to about 5 clients.
I don't know how long this will last. But it was thoughtful of him to think of me.

Over the course of the day.The virus droplets can remain in air up to 4 hours.I would say the contact with the hair dresser cant follow the three feet apart minimum either.I cancelled my appointment for now...also my dental cleaning.

This is so hard to make a decision for somebody else. Your stylist may have children/grandchildren who are asymptomatic yet have given the virus to them and it hasn't shown up. Or, the same could be said for one of their other customers who they've worked on.
I live in PA and think the decision has been made for us. Folks, it's all a "carpshoot" unless you plan to isolate yourself from everything and everyone.

I have an appointment for the middle of next week which I am going to cancel. I feel bad doing it as I know she will suffer financially because of the virus and cancellations. But we are in the higher risk group and are already staying home from everything else so I feel the need to include this appointment too. I also hate doing it because I will have shaggy hair and lots of roots by the time my next appointment rolls around at the beginning of May, but that's a small price to pay to stay safe. I have to put vanity aside in this situation. To help out I plan on paying her as if I had actually gone to the appointment.

My Mom is 83. She gets her hair done weekly at a small salon. She has been getting her hair done for over 60 years. She is pretty healthy. We advised her not to go. She went. She also stopped for groceries-even though I offered to get whatever she needed. She used her hand sanitizer & I dropped wipes off for her last week.
My youngest son is an infectious disease pharmacist at a hospital. I will see if he can encourage her to stay home. He told us to prepare for quarantine weeks ago.
My mother did the same thing. They don't listen.

I'm going tomorrow to get my hair colored and cut. There's no way I'd cancel at this time. Yes, we all have to be vigiliant, but the press is creating pandamonium.

I have an appointment on Friday. My hairdresser works in a small room and she is by herself. Usually I'm the only one in there. She only does 2 at a time at the most. I plan on going unless told otherwise.

I will probably hear from my hair dresser and cancel my appointment for next week. She has a son with a serious condition and I am sure she will not want to take anything home to him. I would feel safe going, as her shop is tiny and cozy and there is never more than one other person there but since her son could be compromised and I am a bit older, even though very healthy, I will probably cancel to be safe!
