States have made modifications to so many rules of doing business. One example in Texas is to allow take out alcoholic beverages with take out food.

I wish we could have the ok to allow House Call Hair Cuts. Do any states allow salon services outside the salon license location?

@granddi  I don’t think it’s allowed around here but hairdressers are doing it. We have allowed alcohol with take out since the beginning. In fact you get just order drinks to go without the food.

Salon locations aren’t licensed the individual hair dresser is. You’d have to find a stylist doing at home appointments. They can do their work anywhere.

@granddi  Having a salon worker come to your home defeats the goal of avoiding close personal contact.  In my state the could lose their license and livihoods.  It's amazing how friends and neighbors will "rat out" violators

I don't think that will happen.  It is illegal to do hair in someone's home in most cases and has been for years.

I don't know any hairdresser who would want to risk getting COVID  by going into anyone's home and then possibly passing it to somone else.

That  is way too dangerous to do during these times. How would anyone know if the the home has been properly sanitized.  Salons have access to the proper sanitation supplies, homes do not.

Your information is not correct.  All salons must be properly licensed and they are subject to inspections at any time.

In addition, the stylist must be licensed as well.

A stylist could lose his or her license for providing services outside of the licensed shop.

There are some exceptions made for nursing homes and hospital service visits.

I had a haircut June 12 at a salon.  I'm in VA and the salon I was in is really large and has two sides (one side has the shampoo sinks and hair dryers and is mostly used for those that get processes which require sitting under a dryer).  They shampooed my hair, the stylist who cut my hair wore a mask and I wore a mask until she cut my hair on the sides and I just unlooped the mask and held it across my mouth while she did the sides and around my ears.  Normally I'd get a shampoo/cut/style but I told them to skip the style -  I wanted to walk out with my hair wet.

The second I got up from the shampoo chair, a worker came and sprayed it down and cleaned it.  The other thing they did - even as far apart as the chairs are, they rotated so they had reduced staff there at any given time.

That's an interesting observation.  I would think they should be able to cut hair anywhere.

I wouldn't think they are bound to a salon.  My niece was cutting hair during the pandemic going to homes of friends and family.  She took precautions wearing masks and gloves.  I think it was probably safer for the client as they didn't have to leave their homes.  I didn't have  a problem with it.  Actually years ago my nail tech used to come to my home to do manicures and pedicures.  She had a whole "on the go" kit.  She also worked in a salon but did this on the side.  They do all hold individual licenses and most likely individual insurance too.

@granddi   Alcoholic beverages have been allowed to be delivered with take out food long before COVID-19.  I believe it started back in September 2019.

There might be a newer allowance for delivery of ONLY alcohol without food but since we don't drink or have food delivered from restaurants I'm not sure if that has also been passed.

I really didn't care so much about the alcohol sales. I was just using this as an example of how rules have been changed to offset the restrictions of the virus quarrantine.

I would think that it would be very safe for a stylists to come to my home and cut my hair. My hair would be washed by me and I would have my hair cut out on my patio in the fresh air. Both of us would be wearing masks. Many stylists could not work at all for weeks due to salons being closed.

Allowing stylists to make house calls seems reasonable.
