@KittySoftPaws - If you read Amazon's refund policy, you'll see they reserve the right to reverse the refund, if the goods aren't returned in the condition specified.

HSN was always prompt with refunds. Thats changed now for a few years.

This is such an outdated thought.

@kaydee50 I know it's a disappointment when an item must be returned. But, in all fairness, I see nothing wrong with HSN's policy. Of course they must wait for an item to be inspected before refunding.
In addition, every retailer I have dealt with has a policy stating it will take days before your account is credited. I have actually seen 14 business days before.

@lynnie61 wrote:I had an eBay purchase that never arrived. It was 20 days. eBay refunded me immediately. On about day 33 doesn't it show up. I contacted eBay to try to repay. It was a US purchase not from another country. They said contact the seller. The seller left eBay. I felt bad, I assumed eBay was out the money since the original seller gets the payment.
I understand them wanting to wait for the hsn return. I hear of people receiving empty bags, etc. Our post office branch now even has flyers on their outside mailboxes, to bring payments with checks to mail inside due to high theft and check washing.
@lynnie61 I bet you anything eBay got their money I am sure they deduct it from money or funds in sellers acct IDK how things have changed at eBay but friend who sold there once told me, the money from buyers goes into a fund and eBay does take a cut. It's quite a process. This is hard to believe but once I ordered some essential oils from vendor in NY a small shop. Item didn't come for a few weeks. They asked I wait a few more days and they woukd replace. I waited, didn't come they had to eat it, and replace. I got it in 3 days. Then A little ove ONE YEAR LATER, here is this package on my doorstep. It was USPS, small box, the postal stamp on front over a year previous. No kidding, my mailman said they just got it. IDK where it was but it was found , and made its way to me. I forwarded the box back to sender. It CAME BACK, as business had moved. lol. Good grief.

@shoekitty I have to say upfront it has been several years since I sold on Ebay. When I did, you paid Ebay upfront for the right to list. I can't remember how much but not a lot. Paypal is where you pay a percentage and they will get their cut.
So, a seller pays the listing fee. The item sells, paypal automatically takes their money and deposits the rest into the seller's account.

@kaydee50 wrote:A couple of days ago I returned a pair of shoes via UPS to HSN. Today, I get an email from HSN acknowledging that the return has been processed and on its way to them.
BUT once they receive it I will have to wait 3-5 days for my refund to be processed!!
If they know the item is on its way back, why not a refund immediately? Not my problem if the item is delayed or lost.
One of the reasons I seldom return anything and keep my purchases under $30 so I just donate if I don't like, doesn't fit. The shoes, however, were too expensive to just donate.
I expect that eventually I'll get my refund but just don't agree with the process.
So, an order is sent back, and you can keep an eye on it via tracking.
I don't think it's unreasonable for any retailer to VERIFY the contents (and condition) sent back before issuing a refund.
I think it's unreasonable to expect a retailer to issue you a refund on a return, sight unseen.

Not anymore. You can list an item for free, and fees are deducted if and when the item sells. Paypal is no longer involved in the Seller's equation.
You can, however, PAY for items via Paypal.

Since most people disagreed with my OP, I guess I just assumed!!! most people are as honest as I am and would never think of sending an empty box back to the retailer.
