I thought I was surprised at what the speed AI is going but not reaIly anymore. I'm  truly Shocked in a way....OMG.

I called a company which is a quality retailer. I'm not sure I can mention it here but they answered right away.  With guess what?  Some hearing selling device.  I did not call for this only how to get help and offer a suggestion that  they should carry more sizes on a popular style of jacket.

Long story short, this hearing device chat  went on and on as I wanted to listen to them until the end which I did out of curiosity.  I was really disappointed.  PS.  then after the hearing aid chat chat they hung up. Smiley Sad  (I think her name was Sally.Woman LOL) No talk about an agent or the item I wanted to purchase either at all. Click.

@Pink123  one of my pet peeves is having to call CS, anywhere.  Last few jets CS is increasingly worse, IMO.  Takes so much time. Most all vendors have automated recording. Some spend over a minute or so explaining the options, example, press 1 for....press 2 for....  good grief. I was on phone with one AI assistant and they went through 12 options, plus a lot of other crud.  Then they said press for Agent or hang on line.  Well, you better press button, cause if you stay on line. They hang up.  Then when I called back, I pressed for Agent right away, but it didn't work. I had to listen until it was my cue.  Agent cam on fairly quick, but I spent over 6 mins trying to get. Ahold of live person.  So,etimes when I hear AI greeting I just keep repeating Agent, Agent. And with some vendors it works. Some, they aren't programmed for this command.

I hate calling anywhere.  I will try to do it on line before going through the bs of having to push this button and then push that one and on and on and on.

There are some companies that get phone numbers very close to very well known national companies.  When someone misdials they hear the ad.  That's why there was no way out other than to hang up.

It wasn't necessarily AI.

I hate calling any company for anything anymore ...

but my biggest peeve is when the first thing they say is "if this is a medical emergency, please hang up and dial 911".

Very annoying.

@Tinkrbl44   You nailed it on the head.  Although I guess we should be grateful for any help anymore!   Making  phone calls has just gotten too cumbersome, and redundant for me.  They are too long, repetitive.  I guess they hope we hang up, or have questions answered and then hang up.  I guess with so much outsourcing in assistance, they need to know exactly what you want.  They probably have different extensions and operators for each problem.  Probably too much for them to train operator/agent to be versed in all questions. I just avoid all calls if I can.

@Pink123 🌸

There is a toll free number close to LL Bean’s and I’ve called it before and got something very similar.
