I met him once.  He's a lovely and gracious man.  I met him about 20 years ago when his daughter was being treated for cancer at the hospital I worked for in Boston.  There were financial matters to take care of and he came down to the business office but before he went into the director's office, he chatted a bit with us.  It was near Christmas and complimented us on how festive the office looked and how he liked Boston because it felt like home.  I remember he spent a lot of time in Boston but the general public wasn't aware of it.  Granted, Ringo Starr is not his real name.  But he acted like a dad, not an icon.  I remember they said he and his wife traveled back and forth to their hotel in cabs.  No limos, no entourage.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY RINGO STARR

He seems to be the nicest Beatle. When Lennon was shot, he rushed to NYC from vacationing in the Bahamas to comfort Yoko and see if he could help in any way. Nice guy.

He was an only child and has said it felt like the other Beatles were his brothers.

I love hearing stories about nice celebrities. Many actually ARE nice but people focus on the jerks and divas.
