From the lawsuit, a number of males were also cited as being "too old":

After Candace left, Lacey moved up. Lacey is not lacking in lead roles for HM. A lot of their lead actors are in their forties or older. Hatcher had a movie a year or two ago teaming up with James Denton whom she worked with on Desperate Housewives.

I watch HM movies regularly, especially the Christmas ones. Honestly, I would not be interested in a typical HM romance story about main characters in their 60s or older. I am fine with older actors playing a younger character as long as they can pass for that age.

What's wrong with me?

I forgot to check these female actors Sun Dial!    Woman Frustrated

I merely, wonderfully enjoyed their respective performances, and kept coming back, & coming back for more!

Re: HALLMARK LAWSUIT

[ Edited ]

Just out of curiosity, how well is "Great American Family (GAF)" doing?

What does GAF think about this Hallmark lawsuit?  I seem to remember that several Hallmark actors went over to GAF awhile back.

But,  I havent really found much of anything interesting at GAF. Maybe that will change at Christmas?  I have favorite Actors/Directors/Producers on my Alert Save list, so those pop up regardless of channel. Nothing popped up on GAF.

During Christmas, Lifetime has great Christmas movies also.  (I just have to remember to quickly delete upcoming any Lifetime Shows after Christmas, cause Lifetime returns to all those female slasher movies then.)   I dont do any slasher...

(added)  What abt matching perceived age of male/female coupling in the Hallmark movies?  And they can "luv'n" in that age'less way. heh  They dont always have to be teenagers & teenage luv'n on Hallmark.

@Puppy Lips.  Giving a younger person a "shot at the job" is just why the age discrimination laws were designed to protect older workers.

However, in the depths of my brain, I seem to recall a variance from the law where a particular age, race, gender might be selected over others to play a role in a production.  I could be mistaken as I haven't researched it.

The younger much less experienced actors will work for less money and that could be a big incentive for Hallmark to hire them.

@JoyFilled Warrior  The only show I like on the Great American Family channel is Columbo, which they show except for during the Christmas season. (Although every once in awhile he slips in.

I don't really watch their movies as I find them too sappy, and every movie is the same plot. The same. I do like the old mysteries with that Kelly? Forgot her name.   I think they need to make movies for all age groups.  Personally, unless it is a series, like some of their shows like the murder mysteries, I don't think they should use the same actresses all the time. The minute you run open opening credits you know if Lacey's name is on it, she will be with heroine. No guessing there.  But it does fill a niche. I won't read romance novels either anymore. lol. But there was a time I did. I don't think there should be discrimination. In Hollywood and all the film industry, except maybe stage age discrimination is rampant, especially women. Most women are frozen out after 42.  There are a few older women but they are a listers and popular, but they only get certain roles and rarely romantic. Like old people don't fall in love lol.   Oh, and they are usually bond or brunette for romantic, redheads are too sassy lol. They are slender and flawless, no wonder plastic surgery is a necessity in Hollywood, even men. Although it's ok for a 70 year old man to go with a 35 year old women. The last old women role I saw with romance was Harald and Maude. lol. Lord, O miss Ruth Gordon.  But I digress!

I saw this and wasn't sure if the story was legit or not. First of all, Lacey Chabert is very young looking and is hardly aged out to me. Secondly, aren't most of the Hallmark actors averaging about 35-45 anyway? They're the best actors they have. The new CEO is obviously not a good fit if they feel that way. These actors and actresses are still in their prime. Now, I sometimes watch the GAC Network and they have a lot of young actors who are not good at all! No...Un-unh.....
