Just an update to this:
"Lisa Hamilton Daly, who joined Hallmark Media in 2021, is out. On Monday morning, the company announced that her position as EVP of programming had been eliminated.
The change comes three months after Daly and Hallmark were sued for age discrimination, defamation, and wrongful termination by former casting agent Penny Perry. At the time, Perry claimed Hamilton Daly forced her out "due to her age." SVP of programming and development Randy Pope and HR exec Paul Hodgkinson were listed as co-defendants."
The lawsuit was filed by Perry who said she had excellent reviews up until the time Daly decided she wanted her out. It seems Hallmark agreed with her.
I've seen it too many times, when older employees are fired or "let go" on the premise of a "bad review", who previously got excellent reviews for their work.
Glad to see Ms. Lisa Hamilton Daly is finding herself looking for a new job. Maybe now the quality of Hallmark movies will improve again.

Hi @Venezia Hi @Puppy Lips
Thank you for taking the time for this update. It's important to a lot of us!
I was wondering what specifically had happened, & how that might impact future Hallmark programming & my beloved actors.
I'm feeling somewhat more reassured about the Hallmark channel's future now, since it seems to have been somewhat localized betw 2 (now leaving) Company ppl, (for the most part), if I'm understanding the situation correctly.
I attempted to, & successfully delighted myself in Hallmark, GAF, Lifetime (Christmas only), et al, movies this past Christmas & New Years. Was nice.
I may have unwittingly joined Hallmark+. I have to follow up on that. So, Hallmark+, welcome to my LONG To-Do list!

I know exactly what you're referring to, and I 100% agree!

Age discrimination? How old is she? I thought she was forty-something.
If they let her go, they should have given her a severance package, no matter her age.

If anyone is interested in the details of the lawsuit, search Penny Perry age discrimination suit PDF, and look for the result from Deadline.
That will take you to the actual court documents filed against Hallmark.

@Tinkrbl44 - I believe Penny Perry was 60 at the time of her dismissal, but you can find it somewhere online. She's the one who sued on the grounds of age discrimination.

To put it right out there, Hallmark took a bit of heat back a few years ago for their lack of 'diversity', the cookie cutter plots, the same stable of actors being endlessy cast, and being sort of unforgiving with regard to anything much outside their 'norm'. There was some bad press and so forth, heads rolled, and so they appear to have gone, what some would deem, too far in attempting to become what they likely viewed as more 'current'. The result was a study in contrived casting and programming, Movies had to feature a virtual Heinz 57 cast: one from column A, one from column B, one from column C, incuded were what seemed to be mandatory mixed race and gay couples in each film, and so on. Some films became ethnically centered, and gender 'minorities' became occasional 'stars' rather than supporting characters. Those used to the tried and true formula were not happy and some who felt change was sorely warranted weren't impressed with the way change was implemented nor with the quality of what was being produced. So essentially, they've pleased nobody. There are better ways to implement change than offering a steady diet of casts and plots that feel strained and forced that feature subpar actors and scripts.

I would like them to write for a slightly older audience, especially at Christmas since they do soooo many movies now. I liked the Teri Hatcher/James Denton movie. The recent movies they did about the wedding veil struck me because I think they had Lacey Chabert pregnant. I guess she's ok age wise for it but it didn't feel like it.
The only reason I ever found the Hallmark channel was because I was channel surfing and one of my life long crushes Gregory Harrison popped up on my screen. I stopped and was a little stunned when it turned out he was the father.
LOL @pigletsmom .....if you think that is bad, PATRICK DUFFY (of DALLAS) is now playing the grandfather role to adult grandchildren.

@sunshine45 It's totally wild. I'm just proud of myself for having a longtime crush on Harrison and he still looks great and he's still married to the same lady from the show Chips. Actually my other crushes of Mark Harmon and Ron Guidry of the Yankees also held up really well.

For many years that channel had the same interchangeable plots and actors. Watching one movie was watching them all. It was like Groundhog Day movies. They were all the same, lacking anything that resembled real life.
Hallmark was well on their way to becoming completely irrelevant, so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with next. G-rated cartoons?
