Re: Growing Up Who Was The Disciplinarian

My mother although both of them expected a lot.  My mother wasn't a loving person but a true disciplinarian.  Even our housekeeper was instructed she was to follow the rules of the house.  She was a great lady and taught us a lot.

We had chores which needed to be done on Saturday before going out - right up to the day we moved out.

We had to do well in school, respect others, stay out of trouble and never disgrace our family -- the list goes on.

Of course, we knew the consequences!  We knew the "look", she counted to 3 or the good ole wooden spoon.  Didn't get used often but one time my brother cursed at my mother (he was about 10) my dad slapped him.  We were stunned and we never forgot it!

Growing up we thought they were "mean" yet they molded us into responsible respectful adults.  Wish they hadn't passed when I was young because I would love to tell them "thanks!"
