Re: Grocery store over charge

Some of the Giants here in the DMV have hand scanners, so you scan and bag as you shop.  Or you can use a smartphone app to to the same thing.  If something doesn't scan correctly, I reverse it and set it aside to scan separately at the checkout register.

(They do randomly select ppl who self-scan to be audited, so don't "forget" to scan something.)

Your husband bought the wrong, non-sale broccoli both times. Grocery stores typically carry a variety of produce items: conventional, organic, crowns, florets. Considering this happened to him twice the fault is more likely to be on him.

UPC = Universal Price Code. Every single produce code for each item is the same in every grocery store, hence "Universal". It's not likely two seperate cashiers typed in the wrong code. It's less likely the sale code wasn't entered. The most logical scenerio is that your husband first bought broccoli that wasn't on sale. Then you noticed the price. Then complained. Then he bought the same one thinking you were right, but neither of you were.

You obviously didn't bring the broccoli back to prove anything, which is why you recieved a less than warm response from the return desk.

Your husband bought the wrong broccoli both times. Mystery solved.

@JacksonSq OMG...  Oh Please.... he bought the broccoli from the spot in the case where the SIGN SAID THE PRICE OF $1.49 a pound... the price STATED IN THEWEEKLY  AD SENT OUT.

It was NOT ORGANIC broccoli. The organic vegetables are in a whole separate section in the store.  We never buy organic....  The slip did not say it was organic .... no one pointed out that we bought organic broccoli or the mystery would have been solved...

Why would you state such a ridiculous statement  about a situation you know nothing about and conclude  it was our mistake???   Geezzz. I hope you are not an investigative reporter or detective.....

I remember reading a few years ago about Walgreens overcharging. Makes you wonder how often we over pay.

ALl this over broccoli.  THe OP is "boiling mad" over a error in pricing over broccoli?  THat is a very low anger threshold.  WOuld hate to see what her feeling would be over something more serious than a $5.00 error over broccoli .
