I also make a list.  But not according to store layout.  95% of my list (sometimes even more) are the ad specials.  The BOGO and weekly digital deals.

I shop mostly in a few different stores.  I will shop weekly in both a local farm market for meats, produce and a few salads.  I also shop a lot in Wegmans but I have to watch myself because it can get expensive.

There is a local small family run chain near me that I go into several times a month.  They make the best chicken salad and I will get produce from them as well.

As for paper goods and large scale items I will go to Costco but I don't go too often.  I tend to go once every other month.

As for lists I don't go up and down every isle.  I mostly go around the perimeter of the store of my local chain and there are a few favorites that I buy from Wegmans.  I make both paper lists or just put it on my phone.

Oh I write out lists---but rarely  look at them!!! I think I have an anti- list gene running amok in my head!!! I do write a list to order groceries online and I do use Alexa to make a shopping list for me that I do look at when I order groceries--it's just the other lists I make that I am blind too. Same thing with menus---just can't seem to do that---had a friend that lived by the list--she made them left and right--menus too--and crossed eveything off when done!!!

I don't keep a written list.  As I run out of something or I am getting low, I make a mental note to buy more.

When I go to the store, I get the items that I need and also buy staples that I buy every trip....lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers for salads and fresh veggies and fruits.

I normally buy bread, milk, ice tea, and some dairy...all staples.

If I buy meat, I buy what's on sale or marked down.  Sometimes it's too expensive and I pass.  I have two freezers full at home.  I only buy meat when it's a great deal.

I don't buy premade or many processed foods, so mostly everything is a staple or whole food.

A few times, I made a list, I either forgot to bring it or lost it.  I am better at keeping the list in my head.

I don't plan my meals until just before I am ready to cook.  My freezer and pantry is always loaded.

After my spinal fusion surgery PT told me to try to walk beside the cart instead of behind.  Pushing the cart will use your back and pulling the cart uses mostly your arms.

You needed PT after spinal fusion?  I didn't (mine was C5/C6) but I had restrictions until the fusion was complete.  During that time, I couldn't push the cart or lift much of anything so my husband did it all.

@JeanLouiseFinch   -  I did.  I had similar restrictions.  My fusions are from L3 to S1.  I don't have the same range of motion as before surgery.  I needed to learn how to move to help the fusions heal and learn the limitations of my new back.  I was told by the doc's PA and the PTs the fusions I have are the most difficult to recover from.  I am so happy I didn't know that before surgery.

My personal assistant keeps up with my grocery list as well as my to-do list. Whenever I think of something I want on the list I just say "hey Google add coffee and creamer to my shopping list" and she does. I can see it on any of my screened Google devices as well as my phone. If I decide to take something off my list I can tell her to do that as well. I use my phone inside the store to read my list.

I am rarely in a grocery store and also do pick up or delivery.  I still keep a running list though by telling Google what I need added to the shopping list.  When I'm ready to place the order I have my list to refer to. We had a delivery last night and I spent a couple of hours yesterday afternoon cleaning out the refrigerator and cleaning the shelves.

@monicakm We love doing pickup!  I now think of going to the grocery store as a huge waste of time.  I am retired and need to be careful about how I spend this precious time!  Woman LOL

We do pickups and delivery from Walmart, Sams, Target and Costco.

No routine - before I go to the store, I jot down a few things that I'm low on or out of.

Shopping is easy ... supermarket is just down the block.

Re: Grocery lists

The PUBLIX app does it for you!

You shop the weekly ad (I do this on my home PC) and it is on your phone with the locations sorted and shown for each item so you can just walk through the store and find it!

You can search the whole store database, not just the ad, and make notes at the end!

Makes my life easier!
