I don't know what that message was but I know Google is not recording people's phone calls.

Is google the younger sister of Alexa? Sounds like the same family, lol.

I recently (maybe two days ago) heard on tv someone saying that when we ask Al*xa (or whatever device gadget) for a company's phone number and say yes to go ahead and call that company's phone number for us, it's possible that someone/something else can intercept that call and that person might not be the true company's representative.
I didn't take notes, but now that this thread came up, it might be an alert to call the legitimate phone number ourselves.

I heard about a new law signed in CA, and was shocked ...
Apparently, if you're in a car that has a computer, with camera, your computer can be recording not only the conversations happening but also record pics of all the people in the car!
That computer information can be accessed from an "outside" party without your permission or knowledge!
Anyway, the new CA law will prohibit either recording or must require you're aware it's happening.
Not sure when it goes into effect.
I'll have to get more info on it, but I considered how much a computer in your car could invade your privacy! Yikes.

@On It wrote:I needed a phone number for a local business. I did a search on my phone instead of my iPad. A box came up that had options like Website and Directions. Somewhere in that box was a phone number. I tapped it. A message came on while the call was ringing through notifying me Google would be recording my call. I hung up.
I have never had this happen before, but I usually find numbers on my iPad and place the call on my iPhone while looking at the number provided. It was unsettling.
Wow. I just made a call the same way but I didn't get that message. In the future, I'll look up the number and then dial it myself.

A lot of your destination numbers are recording you anyway. I just count on it and don't worry, just like I assume every where I walk or drive is on some camera. Have you ever watched those TV shows? If you are planning on murdering someone, don't buy the essentials at Walmart.

I never watch murder tv shows. What has Walmart got to do with it?

@depglass I watch a lot of crime shows ex: ID channel, Oxygen network, A&E, etc. I always hear detectives say "if you are going to commit a crime, don't do it at Walmart".
@Tinkrbl44 it's because Walmart has top notch security systems in place - you will get caught.

My iPhone 14 is a lot of fun.... but I have no idea how it knows that we will be heading out to lunch that day at Village Inn. No phone calls to or from, no discussion in the room, nothing tying us to Village Inn and in the morning of the day we go I get a map of Village Inn and directions as to how to get there..?? It isn't necessarily that restaurant either. Sometimes we go to another place on another day.... same thing. We are floored as to how this happens without any prior info from us, or any prior info from the restaurant (we leave no info either).... perhaps a tracker attached to the bottom of the car or as Depglass stated we are being photographed all the time.....
It's freaky and wondering if anyone has experienced this or know how it can happen. What we do as a family now is to turn off all phones while we have discussions. Nothing like thinking everything you talk about is being listened to by someone, somewhere.
Ok, paranoid switch is now off/////

Oh come on now. We all know big brother is watching. They know every, I mean every move we make. A new but scary life.
