@Trinity11 - What @Linmo said is so true. A lot of people watch all of the time. For some it is their sole interaction with someone else. It is easy to get attached to people who make you feel good, whether it's your favorite salesperson in a store or your favorite host here. I think people know they're not their personal friends, but there is a comfort in knowing you can see someone you enjoy watching. I don't think they necessarily need help.

For me, I don't get to watch certain shows when I like. I DVR a lot of them, and some things are obviously sold out. But I also order ahead of the shows sometimes!

I really like certain hosts and vendors and I think it makes me more likely to buy the products they sell.

I had recently started to DVR shows with Carolyn and Gary. I like D&C, especially the newer Canyon Retreat line. And watching their shows makes me happy!

I also met Carolyn once at Beauty Bash. DD and I were standing back and waiting to get closer. She saw us, and came over to get us. We talked about our pets. She was down to earth and delightful. I thought at the time I would love to sit and talk with her.

So of course I looked forward to her shows. And of course I'm upset at her being let go. She is not my "friend," but if I lived next door to her I think she would be!  Smiley Happy

Understood for lonely people.  Very good observations too.  Yes, there are so many.  However, the people at home ARE NOT interacting with the hosts anymore than they would be a day time talk show host.  That's the problem.  They do need help.  I suspect many of them hoard as well.

Glad I don’t follow any qvc or hsn hosts on FB, nor any celebrities. Agree with the poster that suggested the hosts turn off the comments section of their FB page until this all blows over. smh

They more than likely know these hosts are not their friends. Just a friendly voice on the TV to keep them company and something to look forward to each day.

If they're housebound how can they seek out entertainment outside of reading, knitting, and other hobbies? Maybe they are bedbound and maybe their friends have passed and their families are gone as well. That's all I'm saying.

I agree with this sentiment.  I also feel badly for people who spend a majority of their day on this forum.  There are many who come here from the time they get up until the time they need to go to bed.  Addiction to QVC in one shape or another.

I spent time recovering from two heart attacks here. Lots of nice posters who really lifted my spirits. Now that I can walk again, I get out more but still nice reading about other people's lives is a nice, harmless connection @gertrudecloset . I don't in any way, shape or form consider it an addiction.

Welp, good for you @Trinity11 .  I'm not sure how you concluded I was referring to you.  Though, if you include yourself into the category I mentioned, that's your prerogative.

There are many people who are home bound and are lonely.  I agreed to this today, here in another thread when responding to another poster's comments that shares a similar view to your own.  I do find that aside from being vulnerable in a physical capacity, being vulnerable as you age with attachments to only "things" and people you don't know in real time" are NOT Good.  I would bet many would agree with my point on it.  Human interaction (wherever necessary), is so much better.

@Trinity11 I agree that the hosts' job is to generate sales but I also think that many of them, especially the longtime hosts, care about their customers/fans.

If people want to watch these programs all day, that is their perogative.  Not everyone who watches is shopping per se, but even if they were, you can't tell a self-sufficient adult (even a parent) how to spend their time or their money.
