It would've been nice if the full-size eyeshadows could've been removed to place in a 2 or 3 color custom case...where you can pop out a color & replace. Lots of lines have that.

My late mother gave me the Estee Lauder set from the time I was a teenager. After she died, DH ran around trying to get it for me. He hasn't bought it for about 3 years, because I told him I'd rather have another brand, but for someone like me - who loves makeup - a holiday special is a perfect gift. I do realize it's not for everyone, but I know a lot of ladies who love to get makeup for a gift! One year DD got a Mally set of six mascaras, bought some cute cosmetic bags from Ulta and gave them to her friends. A few of them are still using the mascara! Smile

Beach-mom..I've given my daughter the Estee Lauder holiday gift sets, and she's loved them! Especially a few years back, when the gift bags were Coach wristlets! Since we have the same coloring...when there is a choice to make in colors, I know that whatever is right for me, will work for her.

But I've never given makeup to anyone else.

I gave them to DD the year they had the Coach bags too! Since then, she'd rather have the Naked palettes by UD. It's so hard to surprise her now, because if you don't get the palettes when they come out, of course they're gone. And she gets them herself! Her birthday is in November, so that has helped some. I got a holiday lip collection here and gave it to her for her birthday so she could wear them throughout the holidays. I used to get her one of the MAC holiday eyeshadow palette. Last year I got her the Ciate advent calendar, but I wanted to try something different this year. Smile
