If one wants to change the rules.... one does it BEFORE he participates, not when he/she loses. He acted like a 3 year old.
Did you happen to see his apology on Good Morning America?

Cody.... he should have been man enough to keep his mouth shut in the beginning, IMO. I believe we have a society which is saying and doing things without thinking about consequences before they do/say them.... and expecting them to be forgiven.

I'll not argue with that. I was just curious if you saw his apology. I did and I thought it was genuine and I think he is a very emotional man. But of course...he should not have made the comments that he did.
Like yourself I am a firm believer in play the game and take the blame. However I do respect a heartfelt and genuine apology. I have had to make a few of those myself. Well...more than a few.

sidsmom - Funny that you mentioned about the last footage of Secretariat. About an hour ago, I found the link on youtube - and the tears flowed from my eyes. Indeed, get out the Kleenex. The family who met and filmed Secretariat that day have memories to last a lifetime. Although I saw all three of his historic Triple Crown races on TV, I must say that his victory at the Belmont Stakes is one for the ages. RIP Big Red - may you forever ride free...
Scroll down the comments under the video link Sidsmom provided to see a youtube video of The Great one run the Belmont Stakes (for the Triple Crown) 1973. What a beauty he was, an awesome race even tho it was only a 5 horse field, he ended up smoking them.
The story of his big heart was something, apparently it is in the bloodline being dominate in males, 2 of his brothers had it, 2 of his sisters did not.

Coburn is from my town..............and this area is a horse area............but around here, you say what you think, and he did just that.....it might not be wrapped up all pretty, it may be hard.........but it's honest.........and that goes a long way here...........some experts agree with him...................................raven

I didn't watch for a long time after Barbaro..that was horrible! I wish they would put CC out to stud! He's so beautiful, they should be happy he's ok, no more risk of racing, imo!
Ruffian turned the tide for me.
Eight Belles did it for me, euthanized right on the track. I saw it and I still cry every time I think of her. My own horse was a young mare at the time who just ended her barrel racing career and I decided to retrain her for pleasure riding and dressage training to undo all the stiffness in her neck and shoulders from racing barrels in the same direction. I was just outdone when that poor filly broke both her ankles.
I agree that Secretariat was something special. Horses don't come like that anymore. They've bred all the strength out of them IMO.
