The rules haven't changed. He was way out of line. I'm glad he feels pressured to apologize. My husband saw Secretariat at Pimlico in his successful run for the triple crown. He still speaks in almost reverent tones when he talks about that horse.

I'm glad to see that he apologized.

But his un-sportsmanlike behavior won't be forgotten by the racing industry, fans and sports commentators and writers.

Too little, too late.

Unfortunately CC & Coburn's legacy has been reduced to a sound bite....and GIF of the Mrs. telling him to shut up. Hee

My sports guys where saying...'I hope they took an airplane back to California. Can't imagine the dog-cussin' his wife would've given him if they drove!!!' Giggle.

WOW....what a treat that must have been for your husband. Big Red. I was only 12-13 yrs old when I saw him on TV...and without knowing the importance, I knew then I was watching something good.

Odd side twist, my indoor cycling instructor loves Secretariat, as well. Every so often, she has a 'Secretariat' class. She puts in the movie (Diane Lane), talks facts about him while we ride...and then the last 5 minutes of class, where they burst out of the gate for 2.5 miles....we 'race' along. It's so much fun...feel like you're flying along with the horses.

Here's a report....the last footage of Secretariat before his last day. Kleenex, for sure. I loved that horse...everyone is pale in comparison. There's only "One":

He really is a "DAP."

wookie - Your hubby is so lucky to have witnessed a historic Preakness at Pimlico

sidsmom - Funny that you mentioned about the last footage of Secretariat. About an hour ago, I found the link on youtube - and the tears flowed from my eyes. Indeed, get out the Kleenex. The family who met and filmed Secretariat that day have memories to last a lifetime. Although I saw all three of his historic Triple Crown races on TV, I must say that his victory at the Belmont Stakes is one for the ages. RIP Big Red - may you forever ride free...

I'm sorry to see they will be continuing to race CC, after he gets over having part of his hoof torn off in the Belmont.

I was hoping they would put him out to stud.

I don't know a thing about horse racing but, although he may have a point, that was definitelty not the time to make it.--it reeked of poor sportsmanship.

Regardless, I figure he got enough grief about it from his wife.

Yes, I think he was lucky, too.
