Enjoy! Go easy.

Going to give one of my loves and passions another try this afternoon. That is to say I am going ice skating again. Some may recall my adventure last February-March, that eventually did not turn out the best.
Fell and broke a Right side rib, which still is tender in certain positions. I have spent many weeks in Physical Therapy working on athletic type balance improvements, and devoted hours and hours at home working on improving these things.
These do not necessarily translate into ice skating. I am not looking to skate like the hockey referee I was for over 30+ years. I just want to be able to feel comfortable and stable doing one of the things I always loved since I was about 5-6 years old.
Will find out soon and as always, Optimism is and always has been one of my best friends. Here's hoping!

"Good for you'!!!! I ice skated every "winter" all through High School. Was in Latin America, where our winter temps were in the mid 50' to 60's. No snow or ice there...but a big, lovely, indoor skating rink! I loved the free flowing feeling when moving around that rink!! Got to where I could do "some" tricks, but mostly went to meet the "boys!!!!
I saved up my money to buy some good skates. Still have those same skates hanging in the garage...am sure they don't fit now!!!

I admire you, John. I don't have the gumption you have and I have resigned myself to never putting on skates again.... or even cross-country skis..... but you're a fighter and it sounds like you've put in the work since your last mishap. My money's on you!

Good for you! I hope you have a great (and safe!) time!

@hckynutI recall your mis-adventure but I thought you should go back when you healed up. As a fellow skater (and sometimes I change into hockey skates) I am tickled to hear you're giving it another whirl.
Good luck and let us know how you did! Sending positive thoughts that you had a great time. :-)

Fingers crossed for you! Let us know.
I hope you have good results and more importantly that you have A GREAT TIME!
I miss swimming and running with my dogs SO much. 14 months ago I fell and badly dislocated the artificial knee I've had for 11 years. I have another health issue going on that has caused the knee replacement to be put on hold indefinitely. I get how hard it is to wait!!!

Good luck, John, and just have fun!
