Wonder what HE says to HIS kids....

Oh there were many...

Work hard.

Save your money so in old age you'll be secure.

Eat green leafy vegetables.

Sleep is medicine.

Save your money.

Early to bed and early to rise makes a girl healthy, wealthy, and wise. (That one from my grandparents.)

You can do whatever you want to if you put your mind to it.

Experience is the best teacher.

Believe nothing that you hear and only half of what you see.

Save your money! (see a pattern there?) Smiley Happy

Oh yes, we got a version of that:

"A word to the wise is sufficient." (I never understood it, and actually it was a gnarly old teacher who used to say it all the time.)

Most are my father's: 'life isn't fair', 'you can tell who grew up poor, they think money is to be spent', 'you can dig ditches for all I care, just be happy, do your very best and have a degree!!', and most important -'I don't care what you've done, you can always come to me'. I was blessed with a wonderful, loving father and very happy childhood. I wish that were so for everyone. chum

Oh, yeah, my mother liked that one.

Along with "Oh, pull yourself together" (I was a rather emotional child).

Dad often said, "Young lady, who ever told you that life was fair?"
