Re: Gadgets - Unique, Unusual or Useful -U noticed

I have two back scratchers that I should use more often on my back.  Thanks for reminding me!

Great 'plus' idea, taking it to the supermarket !!

@pattiewaddle  I have, on occasion, "borrowed" a pair of tongs from houseware section of grocery, used the tongs to retrieve item that I could not reach and then return it to said houseware section. Sometimes the tongs are attached to the packaging with twist ties that I have removed, used the tong, and reattached to packaging.

I also love the grabber. I keep one in the house and another in my garage. I use the one in the garage to pick up litter in my yard.

@Hilery

Your post reminded me of  how I use tongs.  My washing machine is extra large (deep) and I'm extra short (5 ft).  There is no way I can reach the clothes. It's a top loader.  I have a pair of tongs hanging on a wire rack in my laundryroom.  Only way I can reach the the wet laundry.  I'm fine with it and knew before I  bought it I'd have to have help retrieving laundry but I was sold on it by the large magnetic sign on top saying "use all the water you want" Smiley Happy

@deeva

I have a grabber on each end of the house.  I also have a "turtle" stool at each end of the house...me short.  I think it's 9" tall.

@deeva  Excellent use of the grabber, I never considered using it to pick up trash. Thank you for sharing.

These are not new to me but they might be to others here.  Smart plugs. The best (most reliant) brand I have found is TP-Like (Kasa) plugs.  Imagine turning off lights,TVs, fans, Scenty warmers, coffee pots, and more by telling Google or Alexa "Turn on/off bedroom lights.  Turn on the porch light. Turn on my TV.  Increase volume on tv.  Turn off the coffee pot.  Anything that can plug in, can plug in via a smart plug that is first plugged into an outlet. I can be in Hong Kong and tell my smart home devices to turn on or off Smiley Happy

Google Nest Speakers can be plugged directly into the wall (saving flat surface area plus projecting sound into the room and not towards the ceiling with these that plug in diretlu into the wall socket.  Even the ones I have outside are plugged directly into the outlets.

But the most useful Google Gadget are the Hubs (7 or 10").  Watch Youtube, play music, ask it questions that often times include photos or videos where the Nest Speaker can't do.  10" is has facial recognition that allows a lot more customization.  It includes cameras.  They are useful for watching and talking to the dogs when we're gone.  Sorry this is so tech heavy.  Besides makep/skincare this is my world.

@SaveTheTurtles , thanks for this tidbit! I have a heck of a time cleaning the bugs from my outside window tracks. Too many scraped fingers so will definitely be on the lookout for this!

Here's another gadget.  But there's bunches of this particular kind of gadget on Amz.  This below one has a S&H attached to it, whereas others dont.

Suggest:  Shop for yours.

Apparently this gadget works for Cantaloupes, Papayas, Pineapples, etc

(BTW, I split large watermelons (& cabbages) in half with an Electric Knife.)
