As many of you know, I worked retail my whole life. And I have to tell you, from a cashier standpoint, there is nothing more gross than taking wet, sweaty money from someone's hand. This is why I Always kept hand sanitizer or hand wipes at my register. The gagging I couldn't always control!

None of my grandmothers or female relatives did this. I remember they had kiss lock coin purses that were kept in the top bedroom drawer.

My grandmother was almost flat chested, so no.  My mother as well.  Neither one of them had any extra money to carry.  Flat chested and flat broke.

DH's mom always told a story of her two Gandmothers who each kept a "little cash" around for emergencies. Back in the 1950's one was able to loan her I'll guess $200 so she could buy a special watch for her new husband. She said that loan didn't make a dent in her money stash !

I always keep cash on hand for emergencies

I honestly don't know what my grandma did but I know my aunt would keep her old style hearing aid transmitter in there.
