For any of us who are familiar with the original, a remake just wouldn't work.  For us, those roles belong to the original actors.

Same for the role of Atticus Finch in Mockingbird.  I'd never go see someone else in that movie.

I love both books -  but when I reread them now, I see the scenes as they played on the screen.

Absolutely love this movie, and would never want to see this classic remade.   However, I could easily picture Delta Burke, and Tom Selleck in the lead roles.

I hated that movie, and I hope they don't remake it !

Aren't you glad that it's a movie you never have to watch again.  Me, I might watch it more than two or three times a year.

I'm from Atlanta and it's right up my movie alley.  I sat on my Dad's shoulders and watched the parade and frestivities at the premier. It was one of the highlights of my young life. The stars were close enough to touch and there was so much elegance.  Such a memory!

Stupid movie to begin with.  Like to see it remake with black leads.

Whether it's a wonderful old-time movie, television show, or a classic rock song-- whenever they do a re-make, it never comes close to the original, IMO.

That era was a much different mentality and women were second class citizens, dependant on men.    Plus, Scarlett was just too ditzy to be duplicated or taken seriously.    We've evolved too far to go back.

However ........    I do think Clive Owen would be a good Rhett.

I wouldn't want a remake either but if I had to pick, Rhett would be Leo Dicaprio. Not sure about Scarlett. I'd have to ponder. There's probably a newer less known actress out there that would fit the bill. As far as looks, Kate Beckinsale would be good but she's really too old for the part. Oh, what about Jessica Chastain with dyed hair. Yeah, she would be good!

edit:  I know Jessica C is about the same age as Kate B but for some reason I think she could pull it off. She seems younger in films. Both are probably too old tho.

No remake!  Ha

I'd never want a remake of GWTW to be done.  There will never be another Clark Gable.
