actually i am not sure how accurate the information given is...... i found this online earlier.

The flag was first authorized by Congress June 14, 1777. This date is now observed as Flag Day throughout America.

The flag was first flown from Fort Stanwix, on the site of the present city of Rome, New York, on August 3, 1777.

It was first under fire for three days later in the Battle of Oriskany, August 6, 1777.

Proud to be an American. The best gift my grandparents could have ever given me. They left behind turmoil and hate and came to a new country with hope and the will to succeed. God Bless America!

@fourpaws56........cali, I have been starting almost each day on Mr. Lucky'w thread with GOD BLESS AMERICA.....for some time now. You have even given me a for it....... But am glad you started a thread with it.

Since there has been so much turmoil going on, felt it appropriate to start each day with that.
