I remember eating a Howard Johnson's, many times as a kid.  Seems like it was mostly when traveling.  I remember that their colors were orange and like a turquoise color, and I remember thinking that I did not like those two colors together.  Don't remember what I ordered though - probably just burgers and fries.

As soon as I read the words "Howard Johnson's", the first thing that popped into my head was fried clams.  Then I was questioning myself because it seems like an odd thing to sell at this kind of little family restaurant.

Made me laugh as I read so many posts from others talking about the fried clams, so I guess my memory was correct and that, yes, I used to get them at Howard Johnson's!

I remember going there often, as a kid, with both my parents and grandparents.

I worked as a hostess at HoJo's during the summer and school breaks when I was in college.

Last Hojo Hotel I went to was in Key Largo about 30 years ago, there was a restaurant attached. We used to go to HoJo in Yonkers NY across from the Cross County Mall that my parents would take us for Fish Fry on occasion.

Fun Fact: after having served as the personal chef to French President Charles de Galle, Chef Jacque Pepin ( now a culinary icon and legend) turned down a job to be the personsal chef to President Kennedy and instead took a position in culinary development for Howard Jonhson's!.
