New Orleans Residents - September 11, 2024

Be safe! @shoesnbags  - I'm thinking of you! I just talked to DS. He said right now there is no wind, but the clouds are moving like crazy.

I probably won't get much sleep tonight, which I will pay for tomorrow, but at least Jim Cantore is about 2 hours away. He could be on his way to NOLA - you never know!

The Weather Channel meteorologist has been tracking storms for decades and has a reputation of covering hurricanes from cities expected to get the most severe damage.

Where’s Jim Cantore? It’s a popular question anytime bad weather is in the forecast.

If Jim Cantore shows up in your town--you'd better get ready to evacuate!

Also works for Louisiana and any other hurricane prone state. I went through Katrina at LSU in Louisiana. It was zero fun. Stay safe, all! Heart

Thanks @beach-mom !  I battened down the hatches yesterday, now just the wait.  Fortunately Francine is just a CAT1 and moving quickly.  That's the best combination - low category and goes through fast.  Sometimes you have CAT 1  or even just a tropical storm, but it just sits over your area dropping inches of rain and the wind just continuing to rip at trees, structures, etc.  So you get a lot of damage from a low category storm.  This is not one of those, fortunately.

This is my first hurricane to prepare for since DH passed, but I got it all done yesterday.  And we have a whole house generator.  So feeling pretty positive at this point.  Appreciate the shout out @beach-mom !

@beach-mom

PS I texted that Jim Cantore picture to son in Chicago about an hour ago.  Too funny!

@beach-mom  I wanted to mention that you can keep track of Francine with wwltv dot com and wdsu dot com, the cbs and nbc affiliates here.  Maybe you'll sleep better tonight?
