Thank you!  Last week I pulled a zip lock bag of liquid celery out of  the fridge.  It was only about a week old!!  Going to do the foil thing from now on.  Did you wrap it in paper towel first?

@faeriemoon No.  I just wrapped the celery in foil.  What I sometimes do before I wrap it is dice the celery, put the diced pieces on a baking tray in a single layer and flash freeze it.  After it's frozen, i then store it in a freezer bag for future use.  Saves a lot of time when making soup, etc.  I do the same with carrots.

@coffee drinker That's another good idea!

Wonder if foil would work on a head of iceberg lettuce....hate those rusty-brown streaks and patches that develop on it.  I have found that if I go ahead and pull it apart and store in a lock-n-lock, it stays fresher longer that just putting it in a plastic bag with paper towels...yuck!

@coffee drinker  New to me. Do you take it out of the plastic sleeve or leave it on before wrapping it in foil?

I got a bag of organic celery this week that had so much dirt in it I pitched the whole thing out.  It must have been pulled out of mud.  I'm not eating that for sure!

I'm about to quit buying celery all together because it is either old and hard, limp or dirty.  And bananas too because they are too ripe when you get them and banged up often.

Sams has better produce than Walmart, but not much organic.  Costco costs more but so far has been worth it.  And they have more stuff--especially organic and grass fed choices.

@PA Mom-mom

Take it out of the plastic sleeve. I read this celery hint a couple of years ago, and have been doing it ever since. Great results!

One more question:  I'm assuming you wrap it unwashed so it lasts longer?
