I found a head of celery in the fridge that was purchased more than a month ago.  I had cut the head in half and wrapped it in foil.  Very cautiously, I unwrapped it and was shocked that it was still green and very fresh.  So if you want celery to last, try wrapping it in foil.

I hear ya...

I've been wrapping my celery in foil for years, and it will last up to a month in the vegetable crisper. Woman Wink

Never heard of that great suggestion!

Wonder if any other vegetable would stay fresh using foil?

This also works for fresh asparagus.

It might be helpful if one of the mods could move this thread to the "Kitchen" forum.

@JeanLouiseFinch I just didn't  know where it belongs.  It's OK with me if the mods move it.

@coffee drinker

Great tip!  I stopped buying celery due to too many stalks going bad before I got around to using them.

(Substitute:  For tuna salad, instead of celery, I open a can of diced water chestnuts.  They go great in salads with a nice little crunch.)

But I can't say I'll never buy celery if I can actually keep it fresh longer.

Never heard of doing this but I will try!  I love celery but half the time I forget I have it!
