Wait! Maybe it wasn't a 'flip'.......thinking back, I remember something about facing him, then placing my foot behind his calf, and then pushing him backward..........'Still', I also remember a 'flip', but don't recall exactly how I did it. He wasn't too happy, but he wasn't injured. Soft carpeting, large sofa, etc. So many years ago............What I love about these threads is that I end up recalling various memories from my very distant past. Things that I otherwise wouldn't have ever thought about. ![]()

Not if you use it effectively first. "Can"? Yes but that point certainly doesn't discourage me from carrying it. It's better than having nothing and being defenseless; it can be used effectively and not necessarily taken away from you.
Besides, it's not a gun. Even if it is used against you, it isn't fatal, whereas you still have the chance to use it first..
You are not "defenseless" if you don't have pepper spray/mace.
Remember, you can use your BODY as a weapon.
You can use your hands, your feet, your elbows, your knees as weapons.
Those can't be taken away from you, and used against you.

No they cant, but they may not be effective. Why not use both? Tell 'ya what - you do your thing and I'll do mine.

Trust me, a knee to the groin is VERY effective.
It'll drop him like a sack of potatoes.
Pepper spray/mace can be taken away from you.
Don't think it can't be?
If you are down wind, it can blow right back in to your face, blinding you.
Why take that chance?
Anybody can do self-defense.
Anybody.
Pepper spray/mace is a false sense of security.

The young man is in critical but stable condition.

First of all, I'm glad the young man is stable; wishing for his complete recovery. ...........p.s. and also: IN GENERAL: Sometimes we can't get close enough for self defense moves without being injured by a perpetrator's kn*fe, etc. Sometimes pepper spray, say, from a few feet away is the better bet. It all depends on what's happening at the time. JMO

I said pepper spray CAN be taken away, but it doesn't HAVE to be.
For goodness sakes - why are you insisting on imposing your views on me? I said you do your thing and I'll do mine, yet you keep insisting on self defense and no pepper spray. If you keep at me like you are, I'll start to think it's you that people need protection from!

Pepper spray against 6 men? For real?
10-08-2015 10:46 PM - edited 10-09-2015 10:47 AM
IN GENERAL: I wouldn't survive, anyway, six (or more or less) men against me. No way. But, just maybe spraying pepper spray in their direction(s) would give me a few moments more; maybe a passer-by would call 911.

If that's how you are interpreting any of my posts, is that for real? I'm talking generally, not specifically to one particular incident. I thought people would assume that; apparently not all did. I must have given people too much credit.
