@terrier3, i read that you said you worked in the insurance business, i have a question, i turn 65 this december, i simpy do not even begain to understand medicare, i have read on line, but it is so confussingto me, where do i start first? Should i make a appointment with SS office? All this having to buy insuance to cover medications, and then having to buy insurace to cover hospital stays,and what not, it is going to be so much more than my obama care i have now, i live on ss.

If your already on SS, you don't have to do anything. You will get a letter from the Medicare sending your card for Medicare A and B and they will take it out of your SS check .

I turn 65 in Dec. too I got my Medicare card Wed. will take effect the first of Dec. They will take out 121.82 from your SS benefit.

It's up to you if you want to  get a Supplement to pick up the other 20% that Medicare doesn't cover.. You'll need a Drug plan, also, go to any Medicare Insurance Specialist they can show you plans you can pick from depending on your ability to pay.

@goldensrbest~

I think it is awfully confusing!

You can see if there are senior centers in your city and most all have medicare advisors that are so helpful and able to guide you what is the best for you. It is free and you make an appoinment. So valuable! And you do want to sign up or they can increase the cost per month past the date you should have applied!

You can also apply for reduced cost per month based on income so adk about that too!

Nothing to do with one's care of their health and wellness surprises me anymore. One only need look at the diminution of companies providing one's care to see it is going to get worse before it gets better unless changes are made.

I am hoping that come yada that yada's will take place for the sake of everyone's care for the health and wellness needs.

My insurance man told me depends on who gets the throne we're in for rough sledding.

Praise God I'll be on Medicare no more 600 a month premium on just me
