Thanks for mentioning the Steve Bryant Blog. I will check it out!
My Mom was the one who got me hooked on QVC. When she was alive I would take her twice a month to one or more of the QVC outlet stores. Back then, there were stores in Frazer, Lancaster and Drexel Hill, PA and Prices Corner DE. Frazer is the only one still open.
Regarding Lladro, which my Mom collected, one of the pieces she purchased at the outlet was a boy and a girl seated in a small prop plane. Kathy Levine had presented it on air and relayed a story of a trip she and the late Host Steve Coluntuno took to the Lancaster outlet in his plane (he was a licensed pilot). Kathy stated that the figurine reminded her of that trip. The backstory - I took my Mom to the outlet in Lancaster for the Kathy and Steve meet
and greet. Kathy was so funny talking about the flight in Steve's plane and how scared she was. She said she arranged for a car service to bring her back to West Chester as she was not returning on Steve's plane. She didn't share that part on air. ๐

@Regal Bee Welcome!๐ฅฐ I LOVEDโค him too! He would have me in stitches some days!๐ I will never forget late one night when it had been storming badly there at the studio and he was in a playful mood. During a T-fal demo he stood in a LARGE pot of water and called it toe jam soup!!!!๐ฎ His relief was unable to make it in and he was trying his best to fill in airtime while working a LONG shift! This was in the dinosaur days here.๐That has remained with me all these years!๐ He would NOT be able to do that today! I wonder if anyone else remembers that. He also claims to have sold 11,000,000 dollars worth of goods in one HOUR another time, which was/is a record! I had to look at the zeros twice!๐ THAT is quite impressive!โค
THANK you SO much for caring to share your memory with us this eveningI LOVED!๐ค

I too miss the old fashion designers. Loved George Simonton,Victor Costa and of course Bob Mackie and several others that are no longer on QVC... I still have 2 Blouses from George Simonton, they still look beautiful and I don't want to part with them......

Kathy Levine and Lisa Mason were my favs of course. They were warm and relatable.
But I also liked Judy Crowell, especially when she did jewelry shows--so classy, and Steve Bryant in a weird way.
That was back in the day when hosts were not supposed to hard-sell and a single item was not hammered on for most of the hour. There was more variety in the items which made the shows more interesting.
Ah, to stroll down memory lane....

@FlyersGirl wrote:The post about Annette Funicello bears reminded me of so many of the old Collectors Day items QVC sold.
Along with Annette Funicello and Boyd's Bears ,QVC also had shows featuring Steiff, Hermann, Deans, Vermont Teddy Bear, and Robert Raikes. I am probably forgetting some others.
For dolls, Marie Osmond and Bette Ball dolls got the most air time. Candy Spelling had a line of dolls too.
Other collectables included Enesco/Precious Moments, Department56 houses, Lefton Lighthouses, Forma Vitrum stained glass houses/lighthouses, Warner Brothers Studio Store items, Capidomonte, Fenton Art Glass, Peterboro Baskets, Lladro and Nao, Royal Daulton, Lenox Collectables, Tiffany style Lamps, Byers Choice Carolers, NASCAR collections, Thomas Paconi, Mary Engelbright, Thomas Kincaid and Christopher Radko collections.
I used to love collectors days on QVC. I accumulated way too much of those items over the years and no one really wants this stuff any longer, so it makes sense that QVC has moved on. I've enjoyed what I have, even more since I purchased everything at the QVC outlets stores, so I paid much much less than any on air prices.
Edited to add - I also loved the Phyllis George made in USA collectable shows that featured artists like Molly Dallas.
@FlyersGirl I am THOROUGHLY enjoying researching some of the unknown vendors to me, and found the Steiff Hermann brand to be interesting! I was surprised to learn just ONE of his bears can cost almost 500.00, although they start significantly less!!!๐ฎ That is quite impressive! They are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and VERY detailed!!!๐๐
I wish I had discovered him when he was with The Q, because they are a little rich for my blood; even the cheapest!๐

I have a poor memory at times so that might explain it!๐
