NoelSeven - I misspelled a word intentionally due to the fact that in the past I couldn't post if I spelled it correctly due to either the standard, rules, or those that take offense if things couldn't be posted in the ways they like. The work was relijun. How very petty.

They treat women like children here. It was a good subject and posed a dilemma of a problem.

It also showed how the Hawaiians are, and have been, treated pretty much the same as the Native Americans.

Yes. One would think that they would stick with the subject matter instead of going off in the usual directions.

Oh, I didn't get to see additional posts after mine. What direction did the line take... if you can say?

They jumped on claiming insult to the word relijun. It went from there.

That is disingenuous. The context in which you used the word was insulting. You said, "I would want them to win their protests and let others know that their beliefs and culture matter equally as much at the other practices called relijun."

Oh for the love of pete {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

That almost always happens when people like that are unable to comment on the actual subject.

Are you ladies talking about Ravens post about Native Americans? I saw that right before I was going to bed last night and wanted to comment on it, particularly to a poster who was pretty negative towards NA's and their reasoning for wanting land labeled as sacred but I was tired and couldn't stay up much longer so I planned on commenting when I got on today. All the good threads get poofed. It was fairly new when I noticed it, did it get a lot of responses?

Irsh, it was about what was happening to the Hawaiian people. Wanting to build on scared ground.

I have a question.

I'm not being snarky, just asking an honest question.

Since the NA's, were here long before white man, couldn't all of America be considered "sacred grounds"?{#emotions_dlg.confused1}

No. Certain areas were designated for that and the burial of their ancestors.

I remember the days when the spelling "relijun" for religion was common in popular Western/cowboy books etc.

It was never used as a slur, so it wouldn't bother me now. In fact, there's a popular band, "Old Time Relijun," which you can look up.

It was never a slur, folks.

Yep. True. Tell that to Marp who takes such offense, or should I write, 'thems is fighting words'.

Plaid Pants, to many the tribes in the continent of North America, many lands are considered sacred. I support the Hawaiians in what they want.

I don't see what is insulting about that?

Thanks Noel!

Maybe other people aren't as old as we are, LOL, or didn't watch westerns on TV or read cowboy comics.

I dunno, but I do know it was never considered a slur in those days.

I'd think that if people thought it was a slur nowadays, there would be multiple groups looking to hang that band.
