For Christmas do u spend more than planned or do u stick to budget?

I almost always spend more than I had planned on at the start of the season. Just wondering how disciplined everyone else is with holiday spending?

It's easy for us to stay on budget. We only buy one gift card for out hairdresser. That's it.

I spent more this year, a whole lot more and got a whole lot less.

$100 is the new $20.

We have a budget and we always save a bit more for an unexpected gift we want to give. This year it was the  physical therapist helping my dh. We didn't know at first of year, when we set budget, we would need that gift money.

I only buy gifts for one person who is in a senior center.  I have no budget...I just wing it for things she needs.  I have spent more this year than ever.  Everything is more expensive.

For everyone else, I give cash.  My children and grandkids really, really appreciate cash and it makes it easy for me.

Cash is king and makes it easy to budget and treat everyone with the same amount.

I've gotten way better as I've gotten older. I only pay cash, I don't use credit cards so I am not paying for Christmas in April.
