i had a schwans food delivery today and had to return four bags of vegetables because they were on the recall list. thank goodness they make it easy to return and get a credit, even if the food has been partially eaten.

I'm really surprised Schwan's is still delivering the recalled food items!  Not good.

I just received an email from Whole Foods the other day.  It was a huge list of food items going back into last year!  Wha???

Couldn't they get the list out to customers in a more timely basis?  I guess not.

@Lucky Charm

they are not still delivering the recalled items.

i have had the vegetables in my freezer for maybe a month or more.

they will only start delivering the items again when it is safe to do so and when they have new inventory.

schwans is very proactive when it comes to these recalls. they have a record of what you bought and they usually send an email and give you a phone call. you give them back to your driver and they give you full credit, even on items where you may have used part of the bag.

I misunderstood-- that they delivered it to you and you handed it right back to them because of the recall.  Sorry!

Re: Food Recalls 2016

[ Edited ]

Detailed info about recalls can be found at the Food and Drug Administration website:

http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/default.htm?platform=hootsuite

Also, Costco's website carries the government's 20+-page list of all the  foods that were part of the Pasco, Washington recall.  Looks as though almost every  well-known grocery store in the country carries frozen vegetable items from that same source, usually under house-brand names.

Why has our food supply become so contaminated?

Whatnow:  Could be that there aren't enough managers in place to over-see employees and machinery in processing/packaging plants.  Maybe not enough regulation, making sure everything is classified AAA+++  (?) I recall, many years ago, that (well, we thought) we had the best/safest food in the world.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

We are so sorry to share that we are announcing a voluntary recall of four specific flavors of Nature Valley Protein Chewy Bars and Nature Valley Simple Nut Bars, because sunflower kernels in the bar are being recalled by our supplier for the potential presence of Listeria.
