Just curious. We have two choices for the flu shot here. One is $49 and the other is around $15. Anyone know anything about that????

Is the one shot for those over 65?

There's also a nasal vaccine, maybe that's the difference. Whoever is giving the vaccine should be able to tell you.

Can't you go to Walmart, Walgreen's, your local supermarket?

Around here, they are all either free or $10 - maximum.

It's $30 here for Walgreen's. My daughter got hers there.

WOW...that's high.

I have BC/BS coverage thru ACA and it was free at Wegmans.

Vaccines are considered preventative - no co-pay for flu, shingles or pneumonia shots...or BC (no longer needed by me!).

There is also a flu vaccine that is popped right under the skin but Walgreens told me they don't even order those and highly doubt that doctor offices do either. They also told me they are the biggest buyer of flu vaccines, more that any doctor's office. I'm sure though that the health department has them but I didn't feel like driving out there.

Maybe that's the difference. She has coverage from her health plan but she didn't want to wait a couple of weeks until they started. She was in Walgreens getting Tylenol and just decided to get it then.

It's $32 at CVS if you have no insurance. Although CVS does have a discount plan for scripts but I'm not sure if vaccinations are included.

My husband received his free at work but in the past we've had to pay for them. The first time was at a pharmacy within a grocery store: $30. The insurance card was swiped and it paid nothing towards the shot. The next time he had it at Costco.

So far our BC has not paid for a single flu shot. I'm wondering why but never called to see. I thought perhaps it was because he didn't receive it at a doctor's office.

We got ours Sept 23rd at the Health Department. No charge at all. I didn't feel it one tiny bit, but my arm got sore for three days after. That has never happened to me before.
