Before convincing my husband that getting the flu shot was in his best interest, he used to get sick every Christmas vacation. Without fail. He hasn't been ill in over 8 years. He gets the shot to protect himself and to protect me because I can't have it.

So for those of you who do get the flu shot: thank you from those who can't have it.

He wasn't the least bit sore the next day but did say the shot giver needed more practice.

It's important for those who cannot tolerate the vaccine. I also thank those who do it, for my own personal reasons. As I said, I'm not keen on being injected with anything, but I do it for the same reasons as all of you.

Good luck with this thread. Every flu season, the flu vaccine thread shows up and it never ends well. I got mine yesterday. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Just got back from a cruise - so I got my shot in early September so I'd have the 2-3 weeks it takes to kick in behind me - especially since I'd be around a lot of people otherwise I usually get mine the first week of October. Beginning two years ago, I noticed the needle was much finer and didn't hurt.

My arm is still sore from yesterday but I knew it would be. There was a customer who came back to Walgreens because he had gotten both a flu shot and a pneumonia shot three days ago and his arm not only continued to hurt but was red. He is a body builder with huge muscles standing there complaining that his arm hurt. He was not a happy camper.

Pharmacist. Couldn't edit.

Tansy: It was the easiest flu shot we ever had. Just a tad sore now but last year - holy moly - I ached for days and it hurt like the dickens when she did it.

Ha was really good.

I thought it was easy, also. Barely noticed it. It was sore around the area for two days, but that's me. That's what my system does, it attacks anything it considers a threat {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

My husband and daughter had no problem.

Just curious. We have two choices for the flu shot here. One is $49 and the other is around $15. Anyone know anything about that????

moonchilde: Glad it worked out with minimal soreness. DH also got the 65+ shot.

Got my flu shot during a doctor visit the other day. I didn't know there is a 65+ flu shot - does anyone know the difference? My doctor hasn't mentioned it, but she may just give me that one automatically.

BTW, part of the reason for the soreness from these shots, as I understand it, is because they are given into the muscle. Any medical professionals out there who know if that's the case?
